It was a long and humiliating battle

A priest has been awarded £62,000 after being paid less than £2 an hour for working 65 hours a week at a temple in Birmingham. Harish Chandra claimed that Arya Samaj Vedic Mission in the city failed to comply with the minimum wage laws. Dr Chandra was recruited for the position from India, by the temple’s executive committee. When he started work in March 2011, he was put up in a one bed flat and paid just £500 a month. Dr Chandra said "It was a long and humiliating battle with the executive committee, who dismissed me unfairly".

We don’t know if Mr Chandra signed a working time waiver form, but if he didn’t then the employer should be concerned on that front too.
