Living Wage is here

From today 1st April 2016 the National Living Wage of £7.20 per hour which applies to all who are 25 and older. Basically this an extra minimum wage category with, for reasons we still quite fathom, a different review date - currently national minimum wage revisions for apprentices and 16 - 24 year olds are carried out in October. But for 25+ it is 1st April. So two minimum wage dates for the diary. Ah well, keeps us on our toes.

Summary of all applicable NMW rates now in force:

  • For workers age 25 and over: £7.20; and currently (but to be revised from 1st Oct):
  • For workers aged 21 and over £6.70
  • For workers aged 18 – 20, £5.30
  • For 16 – 17 year olds, £3.87
  • For apprentices, £3.30.
