    The living wage stands at £8.80 in London and £7.65 in the rest of Britain and the figures are due to be increased this week. This compares with a national minimum wage rate of £6.31 for adult workers, £5.03 for the under 20s and £3.72 for 16 – 18 year olds. But will Labour's call for a 35% hike in the minimum wage really have a positive effect on small business, or is there a better solution?
